Summary

Meet Abbie Wu! She’s about to start middle school and she’s totally in crisis。

Abbie Wu is in crisis—and not just because she’s stuck in a family that doesn’t quite get her or because the lunch ladies at school are totally corrupt or because everyone seems to have a “Thing” except her。 Abbie Wu is in crisis always。

Heavily illustrated and embarrassingly honest, Frazzled dives right into the mind of this hilariously neurotic middle school girl as she tries to figure out who she is, where she belongs, and how to survive the everyday disasters of growing up。 With Abbie’s flair for the dramatic and natural tendency to freak out, middle school has never seemed so nerve-racking!

Packed with hilarious black-and-white illustrations and doodles throughout, Frazzled takes readers through Abbie Wu’s hysterical middle school adventures。

This was so adorable。 The artwork is great and I am actually surprised by how much I liked the storyline。 We get to see Abbie Wu's struggle when she enters middle school。 Her frustration with trying to find her 'thing' is so relatable。 It reminded me of the times I used to stay awake all night before the beginning of new school year。 That feeling of impending doom and how everything seemed so dramatic in my head when in reality they were not。 I flew through this book and I totally enjoyed the ex This was so adorable。 The artwork is great and I am actually surprised by how much I liked the storyline。 We get to see Abbie Wu's struggle when she enters middle school。 Her frustration with trying to find her 'thing' is so relatable。 It reminded me of the times I used to stay awake all night before the beginning of new school year。 That feeling of impending doom and how everything seemed so dramatic in my head when in reality they were not。 I flew through this book and I totally enjoyed the experience。 It reminded me of the simple times and my breakdown on the most minor issues, it's completely laughable now。 Overall very fun and enjoyable read。 。。。more

This book is for those looking for a more girl centric Wimpy Kid。 This book fits right in。 We join our lead as a middle child in Middle School and she hates it!。 Everything about it。 She very much makes me think of Jan Brady。 She feels she doesn’t get enough attention as the middle child。 She is always worried and anxious about not being as good as her brother or as loved as her sister。 I get the problems, and see many kids who will not only enjoy this read but find themselves in it。 As for myse This book is for those looking for a more girl centric Wimpy Kid。 This book fits right in。 We join our lead as a middle child in Middle School and she hates it!。 Everything about it。 She very much makes me think of Jan Brady。 She feels she doesn’t get enough attention as the middle child。 She is always worried and anxious about not being as good as her brother or as loved as her sister。 I get the problems, and see many kids who will not only enjoy this read but find themselves in it。 As for myself, as an older sister, I just want to tell her to stop whining and enjoy your life。 #MGChallege - Debut 。。。more

Just a reread from a book I read ages ago。 It was okay, classic book of a newly middle school student who’s worried about fitting in, and stuff like that。 Definitely liked it more when I first read it, but I’m way older now so makes sense。 Just couldn’t really get through it, and had to skim through it to finish it, since my goal of reading this was just to revisit my childhood lol。 Recommend this for 5th grade, and maybe right before 6th grade, any older grades wouldn’t enjoy it as much in my o Just a reread from a book I read ages ago。 It was okay, classic book of a newly middle school student who’s worried about fitting in, and stuff like that。 Definitely liked it more when I first read it, but I’m way older now so makes sense。 Just couldn’t really get through it, and had to skim through it to finish it, since my goal of reading this was just to revisit my childhood lol。 Recommend this for 5th grade, and maybe right before 6th grade, any older grades wouldn’t enjoy it as much in my opinion。 。。。more

This comic book is about the life of a girl going to middle school for the first time。I found the story very silly。 Some of the things here were so rude, especially the way she talked about her teachers。

Book 125 of 2021Frazzled is about Abbie Wu, a girl with sixth-grade jitters, who has a deep desire to find her 'Thing' and survive 'The Middles' of life。The anxiety may seem a little overdone, but to me, it is realistic, well-done, and will help those headed into sixth grade know that they belong and that their feelings are normal and valid。 Book 125 of 2021Frazzled is about Abbie Wu, a girl with sixth-grade jitters, who has a deep desire to find her 'Thing' and survive 'The Middles' of life。The anxiety may seem a little overdone, but to me, it is realistic, well-done, and will help those headed into sixth grade know that they belong and that their feelings are normal and valid。 。。。more

The illustrations are fun, but the main character spent 90% of the book whining。

Weird book for a childI found this book interesting。 It is funny but I can't imagine a child finding it funny。 It's all about how miserable a certain child is on it doesn't end with her not being miserable。 Weird book for a childI found this book interesting。 It is funny but I can't imagine a child finding it funny。 It's all about how miserable a certain child is on it doesn't end with her not being miserable。 。。。more

This book was pretty good, I suppose。 It had some wholesome moments but it was rather annoying to read from the perspective of such a stressful person。

This books was picked out for me from my local library。I loved this book, and I'm really happy that they picked this one! It was such a fun, easy read, and reminded me of Olga, We're out of Here! which is another fun one。 The writing style made me feel like I was right next to Abbie Wu the whole book, and I have to get the next 2 books in this series!5 stars。 This books was picked out for me from my local library。I loved this book, and I'm really happy that they picked this one! At first, our quirky protagonist, Abbie, was so high-strung and anxious, I found myself feeling a little stressed just reading the book! As I continued reading, however, the humor in this story really put me at ease, and I quickly began to see Abbie take control of her life in “The Middles。” Readers will appreciate the diverse cast of characters and I can see the funny illustrations pulling in fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid。 Hand this tale of positive problem solving to any child struggling with n At first, our quirky protagonist, Abbie, was so high-strung and anxious, I found myself feeling a little stressed just reading the book! I took this out of the library for my rising third grader and he loved it so much that I read it too。 It’s cute, funny, relatable and even though it features a sixth grader, the content is totally appropriate for elementary school kids。

See more of my reviews on The YA Kitten! My copy was an ARC I got from the publisher at ALA Annual in 2016。Middle school is the worst。 That's just a fact, one that Frazzled's narrator Abbie Wu agrees with me on for different reasons。 I say that it's when children are at their worst because they lose their souls temporarily in order to figure out who they want to become; Abbie says it's because it's the middle of all middles and the eighth graders make everyone else miserable。 Both sound right to See more of my reviews on The YA Kitten! My copy was an ARC I got from the publisher at ALA Annual in 2016。Middle school is the worst。 That's just a fact, one that Frazzled's narrator Abbie Wu agrees with me on for different reasons。 I say that it's when children are at their worst because they lose their souls temporarily in order to figure out who they want to become; Abbie says it's because it's the middle of all middles and the eighth graders make everyone else miserable。 Both sound right to me and all of it plays a part in Abbie's delightful lunch revolution。The middle child sandwiched between an overachieving older brother and a too-cute-to-get-in-trouble younger sister, Abbie has a pretty clear-cut anxiety disorder。 I think the author may have outright stated that something? Abbie catastrophizes many degrees greater than the average middle schooler dies--which is really saying something--and she has no idea what she wants to do when her two best friends and everyone else seems to have it figured out。 She's dramatic, whimsical, and not here for any kind of injustice like only the eighth graders getting access to the good lunch line。 I love her!Vivat's simple yet lively illustrations really bring Abbie's underground lunch trade to life。 It turns out a lot of kids are dissatisfied with their lunches, including (maybe especially) those who bring their lunches from home。 I get it。 Lord, do I get it because I did the same thing in fourth grade with my two best friends。 I gave them some of the snacks out of my lunchbox, they gave me the small servings of French fries from their school lunches。 Much like Abbie does, I got in trouble for it because kids aren't allowed to do food trades。 All legal stuff in case a kid gets food from another kid and has an allergic reaction, you know? Being caught didn't make us stop though, we just got sneakier。 Abbie, though。。。 You'll find out。Abbie hasn't quite found herself by the end of the book because no one ever really stops finding themselves, but she's got big ideas and the book's ending sets up her next big plan。 Frazzled is a quick bite delight and I'm excited to read its two sequels。 。。。more
